Sprinkler Systems

From 1st January 2010 all 'double-upper' properties with a storey in excess of 7.5 metres require a secondary means of escape. In the majority of cases the only viable alternative to meeting this requirement is to install a sprinkler system. This can be a costly and intrusive process. The physical characteristics of some 'double-upper' flats can mean that it is not always possible to fit in a traditional sprinkler system. In this instance it may be possible to install a water-mist system where this can be justified through a fire engineering approach. HMO Scotland can assist in achieving this solution through our in-house fire engineer. HMO Scotland has successfully secured a reduced standard of system in several properties through the provision of fire engineering reports and discussions with Lothian & Borders Fire & Rescue Service.

We can also deal with any of the necessary permissions associated with the installation of a sprinkler system such as Building Warrant and Planning Permission.
